Behavioral Problems

No matter how much we try we never learn. A person's behavior is extremely complex and it's really fascinating to reason out the whys and hows of all our actions be it bad or good. But it's what defines us and plays an important role in all our lives. So I pen down this article highlighting some behavioral problems that we see very commonly in our day to day lives. Sometimes introspection like this helps us identify our own short comings and i am hoping that the same happens to me.

First of all, contrary to popular belief I think most of us know our bad qualities and however we may try to subdue it comes to the fore eventually. When this realization is not concrete we make many mistakes but most of them are minor and since people get used to it so the effect it leaves on them is also lesser. But once we become sure of our bad qualities then we try our best to change or control ourselves. Sometimes we succeed most times we are not and so from this originates cliches like 'Habits die hard!!'. But even when we have control in due course of time our vigil on the qualities tend to wear off and then one day the control breaks resulting major problems. Now I am saying that we shouldn't try to improve upon our bad qualities and that we shouldn't do anything about it. All I want to say is that constant vigilance is essential.

Next is actually a problem I have with many and which really destroys my mood. It's the tendency of some people of not getting satisfied with what they have. Many times in a few chronic cases people tend to derive more pleasure in seeing the misfortune of others than their own success. These are in most cases the people who create the biggest crimes/problems in the world. It's a play of the mind and if you are lucky enough to realize that you belong to this category then make the most of it. Be honest at least to yourselves and as I mentioned in the previous paragraph work hard to improve and maintain the effort. Otherwise, you of course would be in trouble but you might also destroy the peace of many others associated close to you.

Then comes the competition/Jealousy. I think this is quite natural and in healthy cases this results in a competitive spirit and in unhealthy cases it can be termed as jealousy. And associated with this habit is that of self deprecating the achievements of others so that we can console our hurt prestige because of our shortcomings or underachievement. Many times we even criticize great personalities and try to find our faults or try to magnify their failure so that we can sleep content that we have tried hard and it was just that we were not lucky. I am writing we because I believe at some point of time this happens to all of us, even if we won't admit it but this is actually quite natural. But the important thing is what we do when we realize this. Even if many of us might not have the guts/opportunity to apologies to the person against whom we had such feelings; at the least we can mentally check ourselves try to steer our thoughts away from such narrow mindedness.

Finally is of course the problem of inflated egos. Pride in oneself and one's achievement is essential otherwise we would be crawled over by all. However like everything else too much of pride becomes arrogance. And this state can be defined as having an inflated ego or to-much-self-esteem. The feeling of thinking everyone is  below you. This is also only of the core reasons of lots of problems in our lives.

I am no saint and at sometimes I admit to show these bad qualities except for the second one. Fortunately I have always been satisfied with what I have go or achieved. Many times people complain that I am too satisfied and lazy but I admit to have exhibited bad behavior a lot. But I have also been always honest to myself about correcting myself when I realize my mistake and also apologizing to the person concerned. So I can sleep peacefully at nights. Now I think I am much better person behavior wise compared to before. But doesn't mean that I will mollycoddle everyone; I will just try to stay as honest and truthful as possible and try to keep improving. Bottom line is - No one except God is perfect, everyone has problems whether they accept it or not. So look into yourselves and start identifying your shortcomings and work hard to keep them in check.

Kohli - the future of Indian cricket.

This man is pure talent. And the kind of form he has been (3 centuries and one fifty in pat 4 innings, 75 average in 2012) it seems the kind of 'God like ' form that Sachin was in 1998 and some time ago Hashim Amla was in. But form is nothing without the raw material needed to make it possible. The most pleasing things that I have always liked is his technique which in the beginning reminded me of Rahul Dravid and his strokes or rather whips down the leg side are pretty reminiscent of 'The Wall'. But more than that his aggression and passion is what is most liked by me and most other youngsters who are from the time when we Indians are competing with the best in the world.

He's without doubt the most promising among Indian players to take the world by storm after Irfan Pathan according to me, i just pray he can maintain this play in future and the fact that he is a batsman so at least injuries are not that big a concern. Hope he keeps learning from his time with 'The Little Master' and more importantly doesn't loose his head in the glamour surrounding today's cricket. His last two innings have again proved that when backed down a corner we are the worst nightmare you can face.

Thanks for making us all proud. May you continue to entertain us further.....

Sachin Tendulkar - The boy wonder who fulfilled all expectation!!

16th March 2012, Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany

Pride and happiness finally when a man who I have idolized right from the time I can remember reaches 100th Century in International cricket. Many people will say that it comes against a weaker attack on a subcontinent batting surface, but I hope finally after this the multitude of fickle fans (who turned on him after he wasn't able to achieve this feat for an year and four days) will again remember the previous 99 hundreds which define a momentous journey spanning two decades.

More than his records what impresses me more is his humbleness and discipline. He has a billion hopes to fulfill and has to score in every match, many blasphemously think him as God. That he still has achieved so much in spite of such high expectations is definitely God level.

Married at an appropriate age he has not a single controversy blemish in spite of the constant presence of cameras and journalist who fixate on documenting every second of his live. Even he passed through the terrible match-fixing scandal without a single question raised and even for corrupt men like bookies he remains a huge unpredictable factor. His simplicity is more endearing to fans like me and teaches us the value of discipline, focus and hard work.

The recent years have been tough but as usual I am sure he will again silence all his critic. There are so many things to say but not enough time (i have to start a set of experiments you see..:P). But I had to write this at least to vent out these feelings and document that I was alive when this event happens.

RESPECT for Sachin Tendulkar - The boy wonder who fulfilled all expectation!!

Hinglish

Tab badhiya khaana hone ke bavjood sochte the,
ki aaj pizza mangaa lete hain.
Aaj kal to yeh aalam hai,
ki tasveeron se hi mann bhar lete hain.

Yaad aati hai woh moong daal aur bhujiya ki kashish,
ek rupiye ke bhao se kyun diya use tol,
Aaj kal to yeh aalam hai,
ki beshwaad chips se hi shaam mana lete hain.

Tab ghar mahinon call naa karke sochte the,
ki har hafte kyun gharwaale karte hain pareshaan.
Aaj toh yeh aalam hai,
ki khud hi roj skype kar liya karte hain.

Beautiful Qoutes!!!

We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves.
Francois de La Rochefoucauld
French author and moralis (1613 - 1680)

The basis of shame is not some personal mistake of ours, but the ignominy, the humiliation we feel that we must be what we are without any choice in the matter, and that this humiliation is seen by everyone.

Milan Kundera, Immortality

Once more into the fray.
Into the last good fight I’ll ever know.
